I look for God to appear in burning bushes, flames consuming an offering, tongues of fire, and parting seas. When he doesn’t, I consider clenching my fist and demanding that God show himself and provide the care he promised me. Where are the miracles? Where is his perfect, fatherly care that would never give his child a snake in place of a fish?
Yet sometimes I sat in a darkened corner caused by suffering and wondered why God had turned the lights out and never returned for me. Could God forget someone in the frigid darkness?
