Sixteen-year-old Violet Bennett doesn’t want to go to boarding school. Her mother died when she was only an infant and she has since been entrusted into the care of various staff of her drunken father’s estate. When Violet’s aunt convinces her father to send her to boarding school, Violet has no choice but to go. 

After only a few weeks, Violet detests the boarding school more than she dreamed. Finally, she decides to break out of the dungeon and flee to the forest in the middle of the night. In her flight, Violet stumbles into another world and wakes up face-to-face with a talking wolf who is ready to devour her. Just as the wolf lunges for her, Violet is zapped by faeries and turned into a faery herself. 

Violet soon learns that the spell the faeries have placed on her is irreversible without someone releasing the magical waters of Lake Draioch from the wicked Ice Elf, Tarrowen. And only the royal faery of promise can do that. Follow Violet, the reserved faery Eowyn, and the reluctant Ice Elf Theron as they sort through what it truly means to love and to choose a future for yourself despite what you’ve always believed to be true.
